HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?
We met on my first day of work at Mountain Brook Schools. William is the communications director for the school system and started a few months prior. I joined the junior high faculty as a teacher in mid-July, and we met at the district’s new teacher orientation breakfast a week later. William likes to joke that he waited a whole two days before asking me out.
THE PROPOSAL
William opted out of his graduation ceremony for his master’s degree and alternatively chose to have a “family dinner.” The dinner happened but was a cover up to get dressed up. On the way to dinner, he proposed in the backyard of the house of which we now live.
PREPARING FOR MARRIAGE
I worked with Engaged Wedding Library in Homewood, Alabama, as well as Brittany Lott from Elle Affairs. Engaged Wedding Library has so many great vendors that made our day so special. Brittany is a rock star, and she made the weekend so easy for everyone.
WEDDING MOMENTS
My favorite moment was pulling off a huge surprise–I had Big Al make a guest appearance at our reception, knowing William loves the University of Alabama. It was such a fun moment, and I’ll cherish this memory forever. William’s favorite moment aside from being surrounded by family and friends was also the Big Al appearance, which he says was awesome and paired well with the playing of “Sweet Home Alabama.” It was the perfect moment.
