HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?
We initially met at The University of Alabama through a dinner debate society, The Other Club, when I was in undergrad and Ben was getting his MBA. I apparently made a witty comment that caught Ben’s attention. Fast forward to both of us living in Birmingham, and we reconnected at a social event for the Rotaract Club of Birmingham, a civic organization with which we are both involved.
THE PROPOSAL
Ben told me that there was a rose bush sale at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and that his dad asked him to go get a rose bush for his mom for Valentine’s Day. When I didn’t see any signs for the rosebush sale, I said, “I told you so!” Then, I was completely surprised, when Ben got down on one knee.
PREPARING FOR MARRIAGE
We got married at Saint Paul’s and had a few meetings with Father Jerabek in preparation for marriage. Our photographer, Eleanor, also suggested a few different books about preparing for marriage.
WEDDING MOMENTS
There are so many special moments that I remember. One was standing with my dad, getting ready to walk down the aisle. The organist began performing, and I was so excited to walk down that aisle to Ben. The sunset photos we took afterwards were so magical. It was fun and special to have a minute to soak in the fact that we were officially married.
