HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?

Philip and I were set up through my best friend’s dad, who I trust immensely, and who played golf with Philip. After he’d given my number to him and told me Philip was going to call me, I looked Philip up on Instagram (like any single girl would do). We had a mutual friend that I trust dearly because she is my sister’s best friend. So, I felt comfortable reaching out to ask her how well she knew him and anything else she could tell me. It turns out, Philip is her brother! So, Philip is my sister’s best friend’s brother! Our paths had never crossed before, so out of the gate, our story felt ordained. It didn’t take long before we both knew it was meant to be!

THE PROPOSAL

Early on in our relationship, Philip started calling me Pooh Bear. We quickly became “The Pooh Bears” amongst family and friends. On a beautiful Sunday morning before attending church, he said we should have a cup of coffee at his house on his screened-in porch. When I stepped outside, he handed me a coffee mug that felt empty. A bit confused, he told me to look inside the cup, and low and behold, the ring was in it. On the table next to him was a cake with a huge Pooh Bear on it that said, “Will you marry me?” It was so special.

WEDDING DRESS DETAILS

I knew I wanted something classic and elegant but with a little bit of drama. I went to Atlanta with my mom and sisters to Mandi Jackson Bridal. I tried on a few other dresses before I tried mine on, but when I did, I just knew it was everything I was looking for in a dress.

WEDDING PLANNING ADVICE

Try not to be so rigid with your expectations on the details. Focus on the ceremony, vows and the celebration with friends and family of your lifelong commitment. Ultimately, nothing else really matters other than getting to walk away with your husband.
