Caroline Philips & Danny Cossuto: A Mountain Brook Wedding

The Proposal: Being a type-A accountant, I (Caroline) am a planner by nature. In February 2019, I booked a weekend trip to Sea Island for that coming October to celebrate my birthday. Knowing that the only way to surprise me with a proposal was to have it occur during something I planned, Danny decided to propose during the trip. On Friday night, we went to what I thought was my birthday dinner at Colt & Alison steakhouse. When we sat down at our table, the waiter brought us our menus, and a note fell out of mine. When I finished reading my letter, I looked to my right, and Danny was down on his knee with a ring. I said yes and the restaurant erupted in applause!

Favorite Moment: Being a COVID bride, I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of the guest turnout. Yes, people RSVP-ed that they were attending, but in these uncertain times when plans change daily, I wasn’t expecting a large turnout. We were only able to have family and wedding party at the church, and before being announced at the reception, I remember asking my wedding planner how the turnout was so I could set expectations before walking in the ballroom. She told me I’d be pleasantly surprised, but I still didn’t believe her. As we walked in the ballroom, my jaw hit the floor. Danny and I will be forever grateful for everyone who attended. To make everything even better, no one contracted COVID at the wedding.

What We Are Doing Now: On the first day of our honeymoon, as we were in route to our hotel in Cabo, we both received offer letters from PwC offering us a two-year rotation in the PwC London office. We are moving to London and are planning to live near Hyde Park.
