Mary Palmer Cook & Tyler Rosenau: A Mountain Brook Wedding

How We Met: Tyler and I (Mary Palmer) met through a mutual friend In Montgomery. I was finishing an internship at the Alabama Department of Environmental Management, and he was passing through the Maxwell Air Force Base on a training exercise. Tyler is a helicopter pilot for the Marine Corps, but when I asked what he did for a living, he told me that he was a “door gunner for a submarine.” I nervously gushed about submarines for a solid five minutes until he took pity on me and told me that a “door gunner to a submarine” isn’t a real job. He was much nicer to me for the rest of the night, and we stayed in touch from that initial meeting onward. We still laugh about our first conversation to this day!

The Proposal: Tyler proposed the morning of the 22nd of December 2018, and we decided to set a long engagement with plenty of time to plan the wedding around our busy schedules. We actually got married in the same church that my mother and father were married in, and our family members went above the call of duty to make the day special for Tyler and me. Everyone participated in some small way all the way down to my littlest cousin.

What We Are Doing Now: Tyler and I currently live in Pensacola, Florida, where Tyler is stationed. We have an adorable English bulldog named Doodle and two silly cats named Lucy and Gouda. We love the sunshine and easy access to the beach while staying close to our family in Birmingham. We plan to take our honeymoon trip to Ireland once travel overseas becomes easier.
