1. Holiday Open Houses

No need to worry about a 5:00 closing time on these nights. Plus, there will be extra merriment with festivities in the stores, so come knock out some shopping for special ones on your list and support local businesses. All open houses are organized by the Mountain Brook Chamber of Commerce.

2. Holiday Parade

Sunday, Dec. 5 | 3 p.m.
Mountain Brook Village

Watch as floats, fire trucks, bands, choral groups, dancers and of course St. Nicholas himself parade down through Mountain Brook Village.

3. Car Menorah Parade

Sunday, Dec. 5 | 5 p.m.
Chabad of Alabama
3040 Overton Road

This parade will bring the light of Chanukah to the streets of Birmingham. Each car in the parade will get a magnetic car menorah or a Chanukah flag, and the parade will be accompanied by a police escort. Please ensure to be there by 4:30 PM for a smooth setup and on time departure! There is a suggested donation of $25 for each car in the parade. Spots in the parade can be reserved here.

4. Christmas Home Tour

Thursday, Dec. 9
10 a.m.-2 p.m. & 4-8 p.m.

Tour homes in all their festive glory at this annual event to benefit the Samford Legacy League’s scholarships to Samford University for students with significant financial need and challenging circumstances. This year three homes in Mountain Brook and two in Vestavia Hills will be on the tour. For tickets visit samford.edu/legacyleague/.

5. IPC Holiday House Tour

Saturday, Dec. 11 | 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Take a tour of area homes decked out for the season from the safety of your own home this year. The tour benefits the Children’s Fresh Air Farm, STAIR and First Light Women’s Shelter—all local ministries missions supported by IPC. Purchase your tickets here. 

6. Living Nativity

Dec. 20-22
Mountain Brook Baptist Church

Come park and watch the Biblical account of Jesus’ birth with live actors and live animals in this annual production by Mountain Brook Baptist Church, now going more than 50 years strong. Shows start at 6:45, 7:30 and 8:15 p.m. each night.

7. Glow Wild: An Animal Lantern Celebration

Select Nights | 5-9 p.m.
The Birmingham Zoo

See lantern creations of wildlife from around the world as hundreds of animal shapes of all sizes –pandas, elephants, cheetahs, polar bears, and whales—soar up to 30 feet high. The event lasts through Jan. 17. Get your tickets here.
